Brook Jones

A lifelong resident of the Pembina Trails School Division and graduate of Vincent Massey Collegiate, Brook Jones combines deep local roots with over two decades of professional experience in journalism, media, and communications. As editor of the Selkirk Times, a freelance photographer for the Winnipeg Free Press, and president of the Manitoba Sportswriters & Sportscasters Association, Brook has spent his career covering Manitoba education and building strong skills in research, critical thinking, and public engagement. His extensive career includes communications roles with the University of Manitoba, the Province of Manitoba, and Postmedia Network, as well as a background in political studies, education, and creative communications.

Beyond his professional work, Brook is a dedicated community leader, youth mentor, and volunteer who has actively supported local families for decades. A former U of M Bison athlete and long-time track and cross-country coach, he strongly advocates for the power of extracurricular activities in student development. His community leadership spans serving as one of Winnipeg’s youngest community centre presidents, organizing major food drives for Harvest Manitoba, and contributing to numerous local boards and non-profit organizations. Recognized with the City of Winnipeg Mayor’s Office Award for Leadership, Brook brings a collaborative spirit, proven dedication, and a commitment to transparency and accountability as he seeks to serve as a school trustee for Pembina Trails.
